Multi Level Marketing: MLM is a system of selling in which you engage and train other people to assist you, and they, in turn, engage and train others to help them. The 'marketing' is not usually discussed but most times it refers to Network Marketing via a team on multiple levels. In simple MLM terms this means you earn commissions on multiple levels within your direct sales organization. Network Marketing: Often mistakenly discussed only in MLM terms. In general terms Network Marketing refers to 'marketing' carried out through your area of influence, or your NETWORK of contacts. This can be very easy if you already have a strong and credible circle of influence. Or this can be almost impossible if you do not have a strong and credible circle of influence. Marketing via your NETWORK of business and/or personal contacts is a well established marketing method for just about every business our there. Networking is popular amongst Accountants, Builders, Copywriters, Designers, Electricians, Fitness Trainers, Gardeners, Hairdressers, Investment Consultants, Joiners, Kinesiologists, Lawyers, Mechanics, Nutritionists, Office Furniture Suppliers, Photographers, Real Estate Agents/Brokers, Stockbrokers, Travel Agents, Quantity Surveyors, Undertakers, Veterinarians, Waste Handlers, Xerox Sales People, Yacht Brokers, Zen Meditation Teachers. The largest business networking organization in the world is BNI (BNI stands for
Business Network International
) Affiliate Marketing: Is very rarely explained in MLM terms. A referral commission is paid on one level (sometime two levels). Affiliate marketing became a recognized business model after being made popular by Amazon.com. An affiliate is simply someone who completes an application through a company website for the purpose of promoting that company's URL link and earning a commission. Once your application is accepted, you are electronically linked to this company and are entitled to commissions. Affiliate commissions can range from very low to very high percentages. Here are some examples around books from one extreme to another. If I were to recommend business books on MLM from Amazon.com and someone clicked on the link and made a purchase I would receive a tiny commission of about 4% which gives me a commission of $1 on a $25 book. Here is an affiliate link for MLM Books on Amazon.com On the other hand, if I were to recommend the service I use where every week I get the wisdom from a major business book or guru's product condensed down to the nitty-gritty for me, I'd get a 95% commission of $92.15 for each $97 sale. Here is that
affiliate link!
In between is this example of an product with a two level affiliate program. Most of us have read the book The Secret. However The Quantum Cookbook addresses the TWO MISSING STEPS from The Secret that are critical to mastering the Law of Attraction. (I mention it here because this book can make your MLM dreams come true in quicker time.) Oh yes, this is a good, two level, affiliate program. With a $58.80 commission for the main Quantum Cookbook course from your own link. And every time someone signs up as an affiliate through one of your links, you automatically receive 5% on all their future sales.

It is most important to understand Affiliate Marketing in MLM terms if you do not have the luxury of strong and credible circle of influence. I owe my own MLM success in first learning to be a good affiliate marketer on the internet. In hindsight I realize that I created my own circle of influence (an endless steam of prospects) while maintaining my social privacy, which I very much appreciate. (That means I do not go around spewing my MLM opportunity all over my friends, relatives and neighbors. An outdated and unpleasant approach to MLM which is still taught by many internet incapable uplines)
